Spring Tour 2018 - Blog #1

Spring 2018 - Tour Blog #1 - Sunday February 25th

Louise has just dropped me off at Halifax Airport. We spent last night watching a high school production of Heathers, which our daughter assistant directed at the school where she works. We drove from Bridgetown to Rothesay, New Brunswick (where her school is), which is about a 530 km drive. We took our aging lab, Dooley (he loves Millie) and is always convinced - no matter what - that if it’s a car trip it has to be better than a standard walking trip.

Hello Again (Spring Tour 2018)

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year; I know it’s late.

It’s Sunday night, around about 1 degree centigrade. I don’t think I’ve ever enlightened my valued friends on my mailing list about the temperature, but that was my life in BC. Now I am in NS, a ‘“whole different kettle of fish.” There must be a German saying that means the same thing.

As a lot of you know, my wife Louise and I sold our beloved little blue cottage in Victoria, BC in January 2017, said goodbye to our sons and friends on May 31st and set…

Spring Tour 2017 - Day 6

Good news!!!!! I found my tour schedule book and song lyric journal. Now as far as I am concerned it really doesn’t matter that I found the books myself in my guitar case, I truly believe that’s a…

Spring Tour 2017 - Day 1

Spring Tour 2017 – Day 1

As I sit on a crowded IC train headed to Stuttgart, I am feeling reflective as well as sweaty, and stressed, and jet lagged. I should have just stopped at reflective I know.

The tour began by flying from Victoria to Vancouver, and then from Van to Toronto, and then from Toronto to Munich. Sadly, my suitcase decided not to join me in the cross-country flight, deciding perhaps to hang on in Vancouver and catch an over-priced Canucks game.

Air travel (I once read in a book, a…

Six String Nation

February 24th, 2017
Today, Louise and I drove downtown, not to buy my vast supply of medical supplies for the trip (my wash bag is now heavier than the merchandise case) but rather to meet up with an old friend. Actually, two old friends.

Jowi Taylor is one of the most determined and driven men I have ever met. He is the force behind Six String Nation. Six String Nation is a guitar built entirely from Canadian materials.  The wood, of course, is from here, with the top being a piece from the fabled Golden…

Photos below are from Paul's Blog, and there are more photos in the posts of course. Take in the whole paparazzi experience, including Paul and his posse (Lars and Heinz) in action on stage, and hangin', chillin', shopping, eating, and stuff that would have stayed on tour had we not hacked into Paul's cell phone.
